Hellooooooooooo!!
Welcome to the first day of Distance Learning for HMS students! Depending on what time you rolled yourself out of bed and got to a computer, you may have already received your first week's packets and accompanying materials. Seems crazy, right?! But this is how we will be learning and experiencing school until at least May 4th. To make the most of our time away, Mr C and your HMS teachers and staff have set up this website.
In this post I am going to detail how we plan to stay engaged with all of you and how every day and every week will look. Routines become very important during times like we are in, this is our way to add a little spice and boost everyone up.
Everyday: Question of the Day
- There is a tab at the top of this page labeled "Question of the Day"
- Everyday Mr C will post a fun trivia question, usually about one of your HMS teachers
- First students to respond with the correct answer in their Google Classroom Homeroom will win a prize
- Mr C will send home prizes with packets and food on Mondays
- This will happen every day
Mondays: Movie Mondays
- Every Monday Mr C will post a movie(s) for everyone to watch.
- The movie(s) will be streamable on either Netflix and/or Disney+
- The following Monday Mr C will post a new movie for everyone to watch and at least one teacher will post a review video(s)
- This is a fun way for all of us to watch something together without actually watching something together
- Our first movies will be Space Jam (Netflix) and Coco (Disney+) for Monday 3/30/20
Tuesdays: Tough it Out Tuesdays
- Mr Slavik will post a workout video every Tuesday to challenge all of us to get up and move our bodies
- In times like this, movement and routines are very important to our overall mental health
- Every staff and student is challenged with doing all the workouts during the week
- The following Tuesday, the workout will change and a new video will be posted
Wednesdays: Whip it Up Wednesdays
- A teacher or staff member will record themselves creating a super awesome food dish
- It might be a simple snack, it might be a full blown meal, it might be a dessert
- Students may absolutely follow along, but need to consult their parents or guardians first, before doing anything
- Always wash your hands when doing any part of these videos (don't be nasty)
Thursdays: Throwback Thursdays
- Mr C will post a super cute picture or video of a teacher or staff from way back
- First students to respond with the correct answer in their Google Classroom Homeroom will win a prize
- Mr C will send home prizes with packets and food on Mondays
- It is going to be so cute!
Fridays: Whatever Mr C is Feeling Fridays
- Yeah, you read correctly, this is where I post whatever I feel like
- Deal with it!
Participate. Have fun. Stay safe. Don't be nasty.
